Is the Newcastle Library open today?

Newcastle Libraries are open for: Book browsing, borrowing and returns. Please use our self-check machines to issue and return your own books if you can. (Books can be returned at anytime to the 24-hour returns machine built into City Library’s wall on the John Dobson Street side.)

Face Coverings From Monday 28 March, it will no longer be mandatory for members to wear masks when entering, moving around, or being seated in the Library. It is however the government’s guidance that masks are worn in crowded and enclosed spaces, and we would encourage you to follow that advice.

Anybody can join Newcastle Libraries for free and it costs nothing to borrow books, ebooks or spoken word cassettes/CDs. Non-members are welcome to use any of our reference facilities for free. Access to the internet and scanners via the People’s Network computers is free.
