What is a cabinet backplate?

Cabinet hardware backplates are installed against a cabinet door or drawer front. They are placed before a knob or pull is installed and have predrilled holes for the screw to go through. The knob or pull is then installed on top of the backplate lining up with the holes to fit the screws.

How do I remove a backplate from a cabinet knob?

1- Grab some tin-snips or wire cutters and your hardware. 2- Firmly hold onto the backplate and pull with one hand, and pinch a corner, as close to one side of the pull as possible, with your tin-snips. 3- Bend that corner back firmly. This will release the actual ‘pull’ part.

Can you replace a cabinet knob with a pull?

Obviously, you’ll need the actual handles (aka pulls) and screws. Most of the time, when you buy the handles, the necessary screws come with them. But keep in mind that depending on the thickness of your drawers or cabinet doors, you may need longer or shorter screws than what is provided.

Do I need a backplate?

What positions need a backplate?

Usually, back plates best serve the players who are more prone to hard hits from the side or from behind. If you’re a skill position player, we highly recommend a back plate. Quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, tight ends, defensive backs and linebackers are prone to absorbing or delivering hard hits.
