As of Friday 9 November 2018, the name of the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital has officially been changed to the Queensland Children’s Hospital. Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services Steven Miles announced on 21 September that the hospital would be renamed.
Why did they change the name of Lady Cilento hospital?
Medical staff at Brisbane’s Lady Cilento Children’s hospital say the building is a “monument to a quack”, named after a doctor with a history of racist and homophobic commentary, who argued children could catch diseases from “coloured” nurses.
