Why is Whitechapel famous?
Between April 1888 and February 1891, a series of eleven murders took place in the Whitechapel area. All the victims were female, but it was the particularly gruesome disfigurement of five of the victims between 31st August and 9th November 1888, which were thought to be the work of the so-called “Jack the Ripper.”
