Is Mount Yamnuska closed?
For at least five weeks, Yamnuska will be off limits to climbers due to spring-like conditions on the trail. The mountain was closed in 2021 because of trail upgrades, which included moving the hiker’s trail and installing steps on the steeper sections. Effective Date: March 31, 2022, until further notice.

The McConnel thrust that formed Mt. Yamnuska occurred during plate convergence, causing reversed stratigraphic succession as the older Cambrian layer was thrust on top of the younger Cretaceous layer. This is an erosional unconformity missing around 150 million years of sediment deposits.
